Oman’s aviation sector is set for a major leadership transition after Oman Air and SalamAir announced new chief executives as both carriers pursue expansion and operational reforms.
Oman Air has appointed Nasser Al Sharji as CEO, effective September 1, 2026. He will succeed Con Korfiatis, who will remain with the national carrier as an advisor to support the transition.
Al Sharji brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across aviation, logistics, energy and government services. His previous roles include CEO of Transom Handling and Acting CEO of Oman Airports Management Company. He has also held senior positions at ASYAD Group, OQ and Nama Water Services.
The appointment comes as Oman Air continues a broader transformation focused on improving financial performance, operational efficiency and its position in international aviation.
Separately, SalamAir has named Eng. Yaqoob Al Kiyumi as CEO from October 1, 2026. The low-cost airline said its next phase will focus on sustainable expansion, service quality, operational performance and stronger international connectivity.
The two appointments underline wider efforts to strengthen Oman’s aviation and tourism sectors while supporting the country’s long-term economic and connectivity ambitions.
