Automotive group Stellantis is recalling around 955,000 vehicles worldwide after identifying a software problem that can prevent the rearview camera image from appearing when drivers shift into reverse.
The issue is linked to the vehicle’s radio and infotainment software rather than the camera hardware itself. Around 848,000 vehicles in the United States are affected, with additional recalls covering Canada, Mexico and other international markets.
Affected vehicles include several 2026 and 2027 models across Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram. Among them are the Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager, Dodge Charger, Jeep Cherokee, Compass, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee and Wrangler, along with Ram 1500, 2500 and ProMaster vehicles.
Stellantis said it has received no reports of crashes or injuries connected to the defect.
How will Stellantis fix the problem?
For most affected owners, the repair will not require a dealership visit. Stellantis plans to issue a free over-the-air software update, with a notification appearing on the vehicle’s infotainment display when the update becomes available.
Until the software is updated, drivers are being advised to use their side and rear-view mirrors if the camera image fails to appear.
